The Warfighter Field Line: A Complete Guide to Our Original Cigar Blends

For more than a decade, Warfighter Tobacco Company has focused on one thing: building cigars with purpose. Some of the blends that started it all are still with us today—and they continue to be customer favorites for a reason.

The Warfighter Field Line represents our original, everyday cigar lineup. Designed to deliver flavor without overwhelming strength, this line has been part of the Warfighter identity since day one. Whether you’re a new cigar smoker or a seasoned veteran, the Field Line offers a balanced smoking experience that fits any situation.

In this guide, we’ll break down each cigar in the Field Line, explain how they differ, and help you decide which one belongs in your humidor.

What Is the Warfighter Field Line?

The Field Line is easily recognized by its tan cigar boxes and tan-and-black cigar bands. Earlier versions featured tan and brown bands, but the design was updated a few years ago while keeping the blends exactly where they needed to be.

This line is intentionally lighter in strength and body than our Garrison Line. That decision was made from the start. The Field Line is designed for everyday smoking—something you can enjoy in the morning, during the workday, or whenever you want a cigar without a heavy nicotine hit.

Nothing in the Field Line is full strength. Every blend is built around flavor, balance, and approachability.

Why We Use Caliber Names

The Field Line uses caliber designations to loosely match each cigar’s strength profile:

  • 5.56 – Lighter, smoother, and approachable

  • 7.62 – Balanced, flavorful, and versatile

  • 50 Cal – The boldest of the line, but still medium bodied

This system makes it easier to understand where each cigar falls in the lineup without overcomplicating things.

5.56MM Field Connecticut Shade: Mild, Smooth, and Flavorful

The 5.56MM Field Connecticut Shade is the lightest cigar in the Field Line, but it still delivers plenty of flavor.

Wrapped in a Honduran Connecticut shade wrapper with Nicaraguan binder and filler, this cigar offers notes of light spice, white pepper, creamy textures, and a subtle hint of leather.

Despite its mild strength, this is not a bland cigar. It’s smooth, balanced, and satisfying from start to finish. The 5.56MM Field Connecticut Shade pairs especially well with coffee, making it an ideal morning cigar or a great option for smokers who prefer lighter blends without sacrificing flavor.

Strength: Mild
Best for: Morning smoking, new cigar smokers, coffee pairings

7.62MM Field Sumatra: The Everyday Cigar

The 7.62MM Field Sumatra sits squarely in the middle of the Field Line and is widely considered our everyday cigar.

Featuring an Indonesian Sumatra wrapper with Nicaraguan binder and filler, this cigar delivers a rich flavor profile while staying on the lighter end of medium-bodied strength.

Expect notes of faint leather, wood, nuttiness, and a subtle toasted marshmallow sweetness. It’s complex without being overpowering and smooth enough to smoke any time of day.

For new cigar smokers who ask, “What cigar should I start with?”—this is our answer. The 7.62MM Field Sumatra has been our top recommendation for new cigar smokers since day one because it showcases what a premium cigar can offer without overwhelming the palate or the wallet.

Strength: Mild
Best for: Daily smoking, new smokers, coffee or whiskey pairings

.50 Cal Field Maduro: Medium Bodied Without the Bite

The .50 Cal Field Maduro is the boldest cigar in the Field Line, but it’s still intentionally blended to remain approachable.

This cigar features a dark Maduro wrapper, yet the strength has been dialed back to allow the wrapper’s natural sweetness and aged flavors to shine. You’ll find notes of hazelnut, oak, cocoa, and light leather, all balanced and smooth.

The .50 Cal Field Maduro is nearly a Nicaraguan puro, using Nicaraguan wrapper, binder, and filler, with a small addition of Colombian tobacco for added depth.

Despite its darker appearance, this cigar is not a nicotine bomb. Even newer smokers can enjoy it—especially with a good meal beforehand.

It pairs exceptionally well with craft soda or whiskey, making it a great evening smoke.

Strength: Medium
Best for: Maduro fans, evening smoking, whiskey pairings

A Field Line Cigar for Every Smoker

One of the biggest strengths of the Warfighter Field Line is its versatility. Between the three blends, it covers a wide range of preferences without stepping into full-bodied territory.

  • Mild Connecticut for smooth, easy smoking

  • Balanced Sumatra for everyday enjoyment

  • Medium-bodied Maduro for richer flavor

That’s why the Field Line makes an excellent gift for cigar smokers—whether they’re brand new or have decades of experience.
